What chiropractic care actually is, what it isn't, and what to expect before you book.
Basics
Chiropractic Basics
What is a chiropractor, exactly?
+
A chiropractor is a licensed healthcare provider trained to diagnose and treat problems with the joints, muscles, and nerves that affect how you move. At FXN Rehab x Recovery in Dallas and Plano, that means a full history, a hands-on movement and orthopedic exam, a working diagnosis, and treatment aimed at the cause of the pain — not just the spot that hurts.
What is chiropractic care NOT?
+
It is not a lifetime membership, a massage, or a quick crack and out the door. It is also not a replacement for emergency care, imaging, or surgery when those are genuinely needed. If your issue is outside what conservative care can fix, Dr. Adrian will tell you and point you to the right provider.
How is sports chiropractic different from regular chiropractic?
+
Sports chiropractic looks at the demands you actually put on your body — squatting, sprinting, swinging a club, sitting at a desk for ten hours. Dr. Adrian holds a Master's in Strength and Human Performance and trained athletes preparing for the NFL Combine at EXOS, so treatment is built around your sport or training, not a one-size routine.
Do I have to be an athlete to come here?
+
Not at all. Plenty of patients just want to get through a workout, a workday, or a round of golf without pain. The approach is the same: find the cause, build a plan, get you back to it.
Myths
Myths, Fact-Checked
Myth: once you go to a chiropractor, you have to go forever.
+
False. But once you feel the effects of working with Dr. Adrian and the therapy it brings, you'll want to keep going.
Myth: adjustments damage your joints or cause arthritis.
+
There is no good evidence that chiropractic adjustment causes arthritis or joint damage. The sound you hear is gas releasing from the fluid inside a joint — the same thing that happens when you crack a knuckle — not bones grinding or anything tearing.
Myth: it has to hurt to work.
+
False. It's like going to the gym for the first time — your body isn't used to an adjustment just yet, but nothing is wrong. That's just your body adapting to a new feeling. If it keeps being painful, let Dr. Adrian know and he'll make modifications.
Myth: chiropractic adjustments cause strokes.
+
False. Decades of research have looked for a causal link between neck adjustments and stroke, and none has shown that adjustments cause them. What the research keeps finding is protopathic bias: patients were often already having early stroke symptoms — neck pain and headache — and went looking for relief. The real risk isn't the adjustment, it's missing what is already going on, which is exactly why every visit here starts with a full history and screening exam.
Myth: chiropractors aren't real doctors.
+
Doctors of Chiropractic complete a doctorate-level program and pass national board exams to be licensed. Dr. Adrian Ubaru holds a BS in Exercise Science from UT Austin, a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University, and a Master's in Strength and Human Performance, plus certifications in the Fascial Distortion Model and Functional Dry Needling.
Is chiropractic care safe?
+
For the vast majority of people, yes. Safety starts with the exam: screening your history and symptoms first is how we rule out anything that needs a different kind of care. Techniques are chosen to match you, and there are gentler options if you'd rather not be adjusted at all.
Visits & Pricing
Visits, Plans & Pricing
What happens on my first visit?
+
Your first visit is the FXN Foundation — 90 minutes covering your full health history, a complete physical and movement exam, and a plan based on what we find. You leave knowing what's going on and roughly how long it takes to fix.
How many visits will I need?
+
It depends on the diagnosis, and you'll get an honest estimate at your first visit. Many nagging issues improve in a handful of focused visits, and plenty of patients keep coming back simply because they move and feel better when they do.
Do you take insurance?
+
FXN is cash-based and out-of-network, which is what keeps visits one-on-one and unhurried. Pricing is listed openly on the services page, and you can request documentation to submit to your plan or use HSA/FSA funds.
Treatment
Treatments We Use
What treatments do you actually use?
+
Chiropractic adjustments, dry needling, the Fascial Distortion Model, cupping, IASTM (scraping), soft-tissue work, e-stim, PEMF, and targeted rehab exercise. What you get on a given day is whatever fits the diagnosis and your goals.
Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?
+
No. Both use thin needles, but dry needling targets specific tight muscles and trigger points based on an orthopedic diagnosis to restore movement and reduce pain. Acupuncture is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and follows a different framework.
Logistics
Getting Here
Do I need a referral or an MRI first?
+
No referral is needed. Bring any imaging you already have, but most cases don't require it — a thorough exam usually tells us more about how you move than a scan taken while lying still.
Where is FXN Rehab x Recovery located?
+
We see patients in Dallas Uptown (3700 McKinney Ave, Suite 206), the Dallas Design District (3406 Easy St), and North Dallas/Plano (800 Fulgham Rd, #12), plus concierge visits across DFW. Booking is online through Jane, and you can call or message us any time.
